Are you emotionally or financially supporting BOTH aging parents and adult children? Then you are part of what people refer to as the “Sandwich Generation”. 😮

If you’re feeling over-scheduled and under-resourced as a result of this sandwich, let go of the guilt around not having enough time and energy to accomplish it all and release the pressure with these supportive suggestions! 😍

✅ Let your voice be heard! Tell someone who will be supportive and understanding about what you’re going through, like a partner, trusted friend or counsellor.

✅ Clearly communicate expectations and boundaries. You are not responsible for holding together the whole picture! Try creating space for conversations around expectations and what you’re able to give.

✅ Practice rejuvenating self-care. Taking time for yourself is not selfish, it is imperative to good health and psychological well-being! Do something you love like going for a walk, reading, meditating, calling a friend or taking yourself out for tea.

✅Call in support. Check in with a family member to see if they’re willing to help lighten your load. Or research the outside supports available for your aging loved ones through assisted living or part-time in-home care.

And no matter what, know that you’re not alone.
